GOP Hypocrisy Update: TN State Senator Quits After Affair With 22-Year-Old Intern

Gotta love (wink, wink) those cheatin' pro-family Republicans—always down for some exciting beyond-the-wedding-vows action.

The latest GOP "Hall of Shamer" is one Paul Stanley, anti-gay, pro-family values Memphis Republican who—oops!—was a little too interested in his 22-year-old intern.

Oh, brother. The intern is married to a man serving a 7-year prison sentence, but he has filed for divorce. The intern's boyfriend is charged with trying to extort $10,000 from the Senator.

Sen. Stanley had previously spoken out against funding for Planned Parenthood because he said unmarried people should not have sex.

"Whatever I stood for and advocated, I still believe to be true. And just because I fell far short of what God's standard was for me and my wife, doesn't mean that that standard is reduced in the least bit."

He's being a bit hard on himself. He is not an unmarried person. For these family values stalwarts, it's the letter of the law that counts.

And it's not like he would have tried to leverage his claimed moral superiority into votes from the chumps.
