PBS Preview: A Five-Part Series on Native American History

Here in Oklahoma—a state whose very name is a American Indian word—we have some sense of Native American life and history. After all, it's all around us.

So perhaps Oklahoma viewers will be especially interested in We Shall Remain, a five-part PBS mini-series that begins next week. We saw a preview of the program on OETA the other night and it looks like superior television.

Each episode is 90 minutes and each focuses on a particular incident of Native history in North America after the arrival of Europeans.

The episodes begin with "After the Mayflower," airing on April 13; to "Tecumseh's Vision," April 20; "Trail of Tears," April 27; "Geronimo," May 4; and "Wounded Knee," May 11.

Since a good many Trail of Tears descendants live in and around Tulsa, we suspect the that program will have strong local ratings.

We Shall Remain will air on Mondays at 8 p.m. on OETA, which is Channel 11 in T-town.

I am a 63 year old mom, grandmother, soon to be great-grandmother who attended the TEA party at the OK state capitol on April 15th. The people were polite, good hard working American peacefully stating that we are worried about the reckless pork spending more than doubling the deficit in 3 months and the plans for high taxation on every American. Why can people not see that the more than double tax on cigarettes is only the beginning? This administration has plans to tax farmers, industry, and energy in the name of the ridiculous global warming theory. This will increase your energy bills by 50% this year and double before they are through (not just people in a certain income) It will increase food prices and virtually everything you purchase. this administration plans to increase government control on every part of our lives. Go to the official gov. stie, whitehouse.gov and keep watch on the planed and already passed bills they are shoving through without concern about our opinions in record breaking speeds. Use your minds and think of the repercussions of their actions then stand up for the future of your country, children and grandchildren.
